Summary
It’s time to Re-Invent Power Electronics. Tomorrow’s power conversion and power generation designs need higher switching frequencies, higher voltages, and more efficient power technology – and silicon just can’t keep up. Even if higher switching frequency power devices were available, current power factor correction software algorithms cannot scale to use these high-performance devices. Game-changing Systems-Level Re-Invention is needed to enable the next-generation.
NexGen Power Systems is the premier vertically integrated power electronics company. We design, build, and deliver innovative Power Systems with Vertical GaN™ technology that push the cutting edge of the clean and renewable energy transition.
Our Power Systems are derived from NexGen’s unique scalable, software configurable power platform. Compared to today’s best-in-class Power Supplies – we deliver smaller, lighter and more efficient solutions. From ultra-compact laptop power adapters, to sleeker and smarter lighting designs, from power-efficient hyperscale datacenters to EVs with longer range, NexGen Power Systems is truly Re-Inventing Power Electronics.

Speaker
Dinesh Ramanathan, Ph.D., NexGen Power Systems, CEO
Ramanathan is the co-CEO and co-Founder of NexGen Power Systems Inc.
Prior to founding NexGen, he was the CEO of Avogy Inc from 2012 to 2016. He guided concept to commercially feasible GaN-on-GaN vertical power transistors - the holy grail of power electronics. His team created ground-breaking intellectual property that resulted in 78 patents. Avogy sampled GaN power devices to customers & partners like ABB, Bosch, Shindengen and ON Semi. Avogy launched its systems product, Zolt, charger for laptops & two mobile devices, via direct-to-consumer online retail channels. Zolt won the Innovation Award at CES 2015 and was featured in the Wall Street Journal, Wired and Conde Nast magazine.
Before joining Avogy, Dr. Ramanathan was the Executive Vice President of the Programmable Systems Division and the Data Communications Division at Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) from 2004 to 2012. He managed multiple product lines including USB, Optical Navigation, and the PSoC™ that contributed about $200M to Cypress revenue in 2012.
Dr. Ramanathan holds both Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Information and Computer Science from the University of California at Irvine. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) at Pilani, India.
