The scope and range of our wireless and wired internet infrastructures continue to expand, putting a great deal of pressure on data centers and their related communication subsystems. When it comes to data-intensive applications, which include AI both at the center and the edge, high-resolution video streaming, the IoT, advanced cellular solutions, and cloud computing, there's a strong need for secure and reliable 800-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) network infrastructures.
To address the related testing challenges for network engineers to properly validate the performance of network infrastructures and network system designs, Keysight Technologies recently released the AresONE-M 800GE. The company claims it's the most comprehensive Layer 1-3 Ethernet performance test platform available.
Able to support data-center interconnect speeds from 10 to 800 GbE, the AresONE-M 800GE can handle the latest as well as legacy networking protocols, multiple Ethernet speeds, and a variety of fiber and copper data-center interconnects. It provides equipment manufacturers and network operators a flexible test platform to evaluate mixed-speed networks while supporting a broad set of connections and network protocols. Features include PAM4 and NRZ signaling support, with 106.25-Gb/s host electrical lane signaling and the ability to downshift to 53 Gb/s and 25 Gb/s for 400- and 100-GbE speeds, respectively.
The AresONE-M 800GE is a single platform that supports all required forward-error-correction (FEC) types and a full array of in-depth link tuning, stability, reliability, and performance measurement statistics. It can perform complete 800-GbE high-scale protocol emulation and performance testing, with the protocol support to test enterprise, metro, and cloud-capable Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching and routing network equipment.
It also claims the highest port density available in 800-GbE test systems, supporting eight ports in a single chassis (with additional configurations for two and four ports). The AresONE-M 800GE leverages an integrated PHY DSP from Credo Technology Group for fast and efficient data transfer with low latency, while also optimizing power consumption for minimal heat dissipation and reduced operational costs.
